About Us
Academic Excellence & Leadership
Cultivating Minds, Shaping Africa’s Future.
For nearly two centuries, Fourah Bay College has spearheaded premium higher education, building an enduring legacy of academic excellence, integrity, and knowledge across West Africa.
Established in 1827 on the peaceful heights of Mount Aureol, FBC has long stood as a historic beacon of intellectual liberty. Our landmark affiliation with Durham University in 1876 marked the dawn of advanced university degree-awarding status in Sub-Saharan Africa, decades before most institutions on the continent existed.
Today, as a proud constituent college of the University of Sierra Leone, we continue to deliver high-quality modular and semester-based programs, preparing our graduates to lead in engineering, law, technology, and governance.
